Hi all,

I am opening this discussion as I am interested in supervision and mentorship. I am at the beginning of my journey as supervisee and I have a lot of doubts.... so, my question is: which behavior should a supervisee control/check/looking for in a supervisor and mentor?

I would suggest to seek multiple supervisors. I know that it can be difficult, however I have benefitted so much from being supervised by different people. Some things to consider are how many others the supervisor has provided with supervision, how long have they been in the field, and if they have specific knowledge of the population you will be working with. These are great to know but they may not determine the quality of supervision you receive.

I think having multiple supervisors is a great idea, however, I would suggest having a single supervisor at any given point, but having multiple throughout the entire time you are earning your hours. The reason being that having several at the same time could be a tracking nightmare, and difficult for your supervisors to make sure that they are covering what the others are not. And if you are not willing to pay for double or triple the supervision it might be the case that you are not seeing your supervisor consistently enough. 

I would also suggest you develop a superb tracking system for what you are covering in supervision to ensure that you and your supervisor are targeting all areas of the task list.
